30 DEGREES
WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE Mexican food. When we used to travel, that's what I missed the most, tacos and enchiladas and chile rellenos. And for a long time I've noticed with appreciation, the tilt of the head when one eats a taco. Now I don't for a minute pretend to understand degrees (I do know that 360 is the whole thing), but I recently read that when eating a taco, a person has to tilt his head 30 degrees. I suppose what fascinated me most was the idea that someone else had noted the necessary angle. Stop and think......is there any other food that requires that? I can't think of one.

Oh, how I MISS (GOOD) Mexican food! I just had lunch at a restaurant where I ordered "spicy black bean soup." (I was missing smoky black beans from El Pollo Loco, which I guess they don't make any more- not that I think THAT was good Mexican food- but I DID love it!) I'd kill for some Joselito's.
ReplyDeleteJane: Thank you for visiting my blog. I'm sure I will enjoy yours. Isn't blogging wonderful?
ReplyDeleteI like mexican food but can't eat it. Celiac
ReplyDeleteChili rellenos? Carnitas (I order it in a bowl, topped with pico de gallo and avocado)? Tostada (without the tortilla as a base? There must be a way.
ReplyDeleteBecause I grew with El Charros as my standard for Mexican food, I was quite shocked when I left the area and found that there are "other" styles out there. My palate became more sophisticated as I broadened my horizons but I was always happiest when I came home to El Charros. When we moved to T.O. 16 years ago I was elated to find Lupe's!! I'm sure the owners have to have been distant cousins of the El Charro family as the food is identical, even down to the sliced black olives on their lard filled tacos. I will never eat a taco again without checking to see if I'm tilting my head. Thanks again for a splendid blog! T.O. Joanne
