WHAT WILL HE SAY?

IN 20 MINUTES, we'll head to the oncologist's office to hear how successful Mr. Bob's chemotherapy treatments were. Probably not one of us could claim to like this kind of suspense. I find it nearly suffocating until I remember to breathe and relax the clench of fear in my solar plexus. There is such a thing as self mind control and that's what I'm learning to practice these days.

Too bad we couldn't have combined our appointments for I'm scheduled to go tomorrow for my treatment. I'm dressed for the cold weather (39 degrees at last report, but it'll warm up later) and feel a little like an immovable snowman, stuffed into my turtleneck, sweater and throw, barely able to move my arms. Mr. Bob has already donned his red jacket, cozy and warm and comforting even in warmer weather.

Wish us luck!

  8. Hello Jane,
I'm thinking of you and Bob at the oncologist's office.

Thank you for letting me -- and so many other friends -- know how it's going, through the blog.
Here's to modern medicine and the amazing achievements it can do! I hope you and Bob are relieved by the doctor's news, today and tomorrow.
    Love, Jeannie

ps I loved the Doris Lessing quote. Very hard to understand truly until one has lived well past youth. My 80-ish grandmother once told me, decades ago, "I still feel the way I did when I was 18!" I believed her, at my tender age of late 20's-early 30's, but could not know how she felt for another 10 years or so. (My choice is to stay 25 years old, on the inside.)

Also -- very happy you got the "situp" style chair! Daddy had one, and it was a worthwhile improvement in his quality of life. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Oh, I wish you BOTH the very best of luck. I really hope you both get good news. I don't know how you can stand it. I feel nervous just thinking about it, and you all are the ones going through it all. Good luck. Thinking of you both!
